DID YOU KNOW THAT UW TACOMA’S CAMPUS IS ON THE LAND WHERE
TACOMA’S PREWAR HISTORIC JAPANTOWN ONCE FLOURISHED?
Please join us to learn about another layer of history of the land where UW Tacoma exists today – a layer where Japanese immigrants and their descendants built a thriving community.
DR. TAMIKO NIMURA is a creative nonfiction writer, public historian and
affiliate faculty with the UW Tacoma School of Urban Studies. She will be
presenting the new web-based Tacoma Japantown Project. Dr. Nimura will
be joined by Chris Beyer, one of her research assistants.
Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
