Off Ramp from Union Avenue to South Tacoma Way Bridge Repair

This project will repair the existing off ramp from Union Avenue to South Tacoma Way that was damaged by a fire in February 2023.  

Project Background

The Union Avenue Bridge off ramp to South Tacoma Way was damaged by fire in late February 2023.  The consultant hired by Public Works to assess the damage has completed their field review (April 2023) and found that all 4 of the girders and one of the abutments were damaged during the fire and will require repairs.  The expansion joints and bearing pads will also need to be replaced.

The off ramp from Union Avenue to South Tacoma Way is currently closed to all traffic.  The closure will remain in effect until further notice.  Please check back for future updates.

Project Outreach

Once the planning and preliminary design phase has begun, informational flyers will be sent to all residents and businesses in the area notifying them of the pending project.  Notifications will also be provided via social media and this website.
