Temporary Short Term Pick-Up/Drop-Off Loading Zones Available for Local Businesses

In an effort to support the evolving needs of the community and particularly food service businesses through this unprecedented time, the city has made available temporary Loading Zone Signs to help facilitate pick-up activities. This program is available to all companies that rely on the availability of curbside pick-up and access to support the needs of their business. The sign requests will be evaluated on a case by case basis and if approved will be deployed at no cost to the requester. It is expected that the deployment of the signs will continue through a period of economic recovery. Businesses interested in having a temporary loading zone sign, call (253) 591-5095 or fill out this online form.

Temporary ADA Parking Spaces

With the recent changes in on-street enforcement practices in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, some areas have experienced higher than normal occupancies for on-street parking spaces. For users who have an ADA placard, we may be able to provide some relief by establishing a temporary ADA sign/parking space (for qualifying person of the general public to use) near your place of work. The signs will be deployed on a request basis and there is no cost to the requester. It is expected that the deployment of the signs will continue through a period of economic recovery. Individuals/companies that want to support the establishment of an available-to-the-public temporary ADA parking space (with regulatory sign) can either call (253) 591-5095 or fill out this online form.

Growing demand from parking comes from a number of factors such as increased vehicle ownership, more residents moving to a specific area, and increases in nearby employment and shopping activity.

On street parking is a matter of basic supply and demand economics. The physical supply of parking spaces is fixed but the demand for those resources could be unlimited. Methods do exist to create a virtual supply and regulate it through effective management practices. Some of these management practices include regulating demand through parking regulations and optimizing supply through parking permissions (i.e. time, day, duration).
