Port of Tacoma Road Update - August 26 - September 4

Port of Tacoma Road Update - August 26 - September 4

This week's construction update for the Port of Tacoma Road reconstruction project.

Safety is our top priority. The contractor, City, Tacoma Rail and Port are working with emergency responders to make sure they have access through the construction zone.

Remember, the speed limit through the construction zone is 30 mph to protect workers and the public.

What to Expect this Week and Weekend

The contractor expects to wrap up construction between Lincoln Avenue and the Washington United Terminal (WUT) gate this weekend, weather permitting. Two lanes of traffic are expected to open through this area on Tuesday, September 1.

No new road closures are expected on Port of Tacoma Road this weekend.

Lane Closures, Water Main Work Wraps Up

Port of Tacoma Road continues to be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction between Marshall and Lincoln avenues. The two remaining rail crossings in this segment are expected to be replaced in September.

Water line construction between Lincoln Avenue and East 11th Street will be completed this week with the connection to the main line at Maxwell Way occurring Wednesday night.

Construction Between WUT and East 11th Street

Replacement of the driveways at WUT begin this week. Half of the driveway is being replaced at a time to allow continued access to and from the terminal during construction.

No Work Over Labor Day Weekend

After working most weekends the past two months, contractor crews will not be working September 5 to 7.

Enjoy a happy and safe holiday.
