Port of Tacoma Road Update - May 25

Port of Tacoma Road Update - May 25

Construction schedule for May 25 to June 3

This week's construction update for the Port of Tacoma Road reconstruction project:

Traffic continues to be reduced to one lane in each direction between Marshall Avenue and the State Route 509 bridge.

Paving planned for this week

The contractor paved most of the two east lanes of Port of Tacoma Road May 20. The final 100-foot stretch is expected to be completed this week.

No work will occur over the Memorial Day holiday weekend from May 28 to 30.

Lane switch expected May 31

The two lanes of through traffic are expected to move from the west lanes to the east lanes Tuesday, May 31.

The lane switch will allow the contractor to prepare the west lanes for paving. Paving is scheduled for the week of June 6, with exact paving dates to be determined as the work is weather dependent.

Slow down through construction zone

Safety is our top priority. The contractor, City, Tacoma Rail and Port are working with emergency responders to make sure they have access through the construction zone.

The speed limit through the construction zone is 30 mph. Obey all traffic laws, watch for traffic revisions and use extra caution when driving through the port industrial area.
