Capital Facilities Programming

Introduction

This is the platform for documenting the planning efforts for the development and amendments of the Six-Year Capital Facilities Program.

What is the Capital Facilities Program?

The Six-Year Capital Facilities Program (CFP) is the primary implementation strategy of the Public Facilities + Services element (and of other relevant elements) of the One Tacoma Comprehensive Plan.  It encapsulates the City's capital budget and sets forth a vision of the capital projects the City would like to undertake in the next six years.

How is the Capital Facilities Program Prepared?

This development and amendments of the CFP is managed by the Office of Management & Budget (OMB), alongside the preparation of the City's biennial budget.   The OMB coordinates with various departments of the City to identify and prioritize capital projects, develop budget plans for the projects, and compile relevant and supporting information into the CFP.  The OMB works closely with the Planning and Development Services Department (PDS) to ensure the proposed CFP or CFP amendments are consistent with the One Tacoma Comprehensive Plan and to carry the proposals through the Planning Commission's review and recommendation process, prior to their adoption by the City Council.
