Ibsen to Speak Tonight on Paid Sick Days

Tacoma Council Member Anders Ibsen will join the Healthy Tacoma Coalition this evening to speak about the need for a citywide paid sick and safe days ordinance. The event will take place at 3510 McKinley Ave. E in Tacoma, and include a question and answer session for members of the media at 5:30 p.m. and a Town Hall for community members at 6 p.m.

“This is a long overdue policy that would help protect workers' health and safety, and prevent the spread of disease," said Ibsen. "Working people shouldn’t have to choose between their paychecks and their health.”

The Town Hall for community members will include a panel discussion with State Representative David Sawyer; Andrew Wright, co-director of GI-Voice and an Iraq War veteran; Makini Howell, a local small business owner; and Lynda Foster, chair of the Pierce County Young Democrats. Following the panel discussion will be a question and answer session for community members.
