Community Working Group to Tackle Tacoma Billboards

A community working group has been assembled to develop regulatory alternatives, for Planning Commission and City Council consideration, regarding billboards in the City of Tacoma.

The working group members come from a diverse social and professional makeup, including representatives from community, business, neighborhood, non-profit and advertising sectors – including billboard companies and those working to preserve historic places and scenic views. The diversity is intended to facilitate creativity, robust discussion, and varied viewpoints and analysis throughout the process.

The first public meeting is Monday, Sept. 22, from 4-6 p.m. in the Commencement Bay Conference Rooms at the Center for Urban Waters, 326 East D St., Tacoma, WA 98421. Follow-up meetings will occur at the same time and place. October, November and December meetings will be on the first and third Mondays of the month. January and February meetings will be on the first and fourth Mondays.
