Affordable Housing Provider Loans

About the Program

If you develop affordable permanent or rental housing for lower income individuals and families, your organization may qualify for Housing and Urban development (HUD) funds to help you with the purchase, rehabilitation or construction of affordable housing within the City of Tacoma.

The use of these funds in a project will require long-term affordability and income restrictions on the units built.

In addition, the use of these funds will require long-term monitoring by City staff of the projects funded.

At a minimum, an Annual Report will be required, along with on-going housing quality inspection.

Information on the City's funding priorities and federal regulations accompanying the use of these funds is provided below for your information.

In cooperation with the City of Tacoma, the Tacoma Community Redevelopment Authority (TCRA) is the board that administers and approves funding, including affordable housing developer loans, for housing and business projects.

Funding Opportunities

A Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for affordable housing projects was issued September 8, 2016. Applications for rental housing and homeownership opportunities are being accepted now through October 5, 2016 at 4 PM.
