Bid Openings

Submittals must be received by the City’s Procurement and Payables Division prior to 11 AM Pacific Time. Sealed submittals in response to a Request for Bids (RFB) will be opened Tuesdays at 11:15 AM by a purchasing representative and read aloud during a public bid opening held at the Tacoma Public Utilities Administrative Building North, 3628 S. 35th Street, Tacoma, WA 98409, conference room M-1, located on the main floor. They will also be held virtually Tuesdays at 11:15 AM. If no bids are scheduled to open, public bid opening will not be held.

The City of Tacoma invites qualified suppliers to submit bids and proposals for posted solicitations.   

The City of Tacoma publishes and distributes solicitation documents (RFBs, RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, etc.) in electronic form, either on the City website or in SAP Ariba. To submit a bid or proposal, follow the instructions outlined in the solicitation. In some solicitations, large technical drawings or blueprints may be available in hard copy format, distributed through a designated plan distribution service. If applicable, such information will be provided in the specific solicitation document. Please note that specifications are not provided by postal or delivery service, or by email.

Document Revisions

Please note that revisions to a solicitation document may be issued by the City of Tacoma after the solicitation was initially published. Your bid or proposal response could be rejected if you fail to acknowledge any issued amendments or if you fail to submit your bid or proposal based on any published revisions to the original specification or submittal instructions. You are advised to return to this website on a regular basis to monitor for notices of revisions that affect previously published bid solicitation documents.

Unless an item is indicated "No Substitute," special brands, when named, are intended to describe the standard of quality, performance or use desired. Equivalent items will be considered by the City.

 

Substitution Request Policy

To Submit a Substitution Request, please complete the Substitution Request Form and send to bids@cityoftacoma.org

 

If necessary, the department will reach out to you for a sample. The decision of the City as to what items are equivalent shall be final and conclusive. Substitution requests will not be considered if the item is currently out to bid.
