Our Mission

We conduct long-range, comprehensive planning activities pursuant to the State Growth Management Act and applicable federal, state, regional and local mandates.

We work together with the community, City Council, and Planning Commission to develop and update the Comprehensive Plan, along with neighborhood and subarea plans, and associated regulations and implementation strategies that guide the future development of the built and natural environment of Tacoma.
