Home Fire Safety

Is Your Home Fire Safe?

Statistically, children under the age of five and adults over 65 are the most likely to die in a home fire. Surprisingly, the United States and Canada have among the highest fire death rates of any industrialized country.

Our buildings are built to high standards and our fire departments are among the best in the world. However, they don't address our biggest causes of fire, which are people.

Is Your Family Fire Safe?

Nearly all home fires are preventable. Each of us can help share the responsibility of keeping fires from starting. The Tacoma Fire Department encourages everyone to review our Fire Safety Checklist to see how safe their home is. For additional fire safety information call (253) 591-5740 or contact the Education Office.
