Repair
to Pioneer Way – Lane Closures
Repair of the traffic safety barrier at 2502 Pioneer Way in
Tacoma, just south of the intersection of River Road, is expected to begin the
last week of January and be completed by the end of February 2016. Please
see maps below for more details. The curb lane at this location has been closed since
early September 2015.
The City of Tacoma’s Public Works Department has hired TUCCI
& SONS Construction to repair the barrier and reconstruct the affected portion of the
road. The initial phase of construction will consist of retaining the wall
replacement and is expected to take one to two weeks. During this phase two
lanes will remain open (one northbound and one southbound). The remaining
construction will consist of road construction and is expected to take three to
four weeks. During this phase the one lane will remain open and controlled
by a flagger. Following construction, three lanes (two northbound and one
southbound) will again be open to traffic.
