Next Round of Sustainability Small Grant Applications Due June 30

The City of Tacoma awards Sustainability Small Grants on a quarterly basis for projects that help improve the environment, quality of life, and resiliency of local communities. Organizations, individuals, or community groups with an idea for an environmental project are encouraged to apply. Applicants interested in the second round of grant funding must apply by Saturday, June 30.

Throughout 2018, the program is expected to award $75,000. Each grant awarded may not exceed $5,000 and funds are given as a reimbursement after project completion. The program is administered by the City’s Office of Environmental Policy and Sustainability, and applications are reviewed and scored by the Sustainable Tacoma Commission.

In the first round of funding, the City awarded more than $35,000 to eight community organizations. These funds are supporting public events hosted by the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild and the Foss Waterway Seaport, children’s programs by the Tacoma Housing Development Group and Washington Green Schools, and capacity building projects for the Viet Huong Community Garden, Tacoma Tool Library, Pierce County Master Gardeners, and St. Leo Food Connection.

Visit cityoftacoma.org/ESGrants for more information including application materials and timelines, project ideas, and translated program information. For inquiries or assistance completing applications contact sustainability@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 591-5172.
