Virtual Open House for the Rail Crossing Improvements Project Rescheduled to February 17

The City of Tacoma’s Public Works Department has rescheduled their January virtual open house to Wednesday, February 17, from noon – 1 PM via Zoom webinar. Participants will learn more about the 6th Avenue and South 19th Street Rail Crossing Improvements Project and the anticipated construction schedule.

This project will replace pavement and roadway striping, upgrade curb ramps to meet ADA requirements, update driveway entrances, and install sidewalks, fencing, and add new or relocate railroad gates and signals for vehicles and pedestrians. The City received federal and state funding for this work, and the construction is anticipated to begin in February/March 2021.

To participate in the virtual open house, visit cityoftacoma.org/railcrossings for registration or dial-in information. This page also holds a map showing the general location of the rail crossings being evaluated.

City and project staff will be available at the virtual open house to answer questions. To send questions before the virtual open house or for more information on the project, contact Project Manager Mark D'Andrea at mdandrea@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 591-5518.
