City of Destiny Awards Nominations Due February 7

Nominations for the City of Tacoma’s 2020 City of Destiny Awards, which has been honoring local volunteers for the past 34 years, are being accepted now through Friday, February 7, 2020.

“We are so grateful to these wonderful volunteers and professionals who offer their time to help make a difference in Tacoma each year,” said City Events and Recognitions Committee (CERC) Chair Ashley Jones. “Seeing the winners accept their awards from our city officials is really moving and inspirational.”

Since the beginning, more than 200 individuals and groups have received recognition for their outstanding contributions to life in Tacoma. Continued program enhancements made by the CERC, have allowed for more volunteers who give willingly of their time and talents to be eligible for a nomination.

The CERC spends months planning and producing the event. The Committee is comprised of the volunteers who read, sort, rank, and ultimately select the winners to receive honors and awards presented at the ceremony in May 2020.

Nominations for the City of Destiny Awards must be received no later than 5 PM on February 7, to be considered by the Committee. Nominations can be filled out online, and submitted by email at CityofDestiny@cityoftacoma.org, fax at (253) 593-7620, or mail to City of Tacoma, Attention: City Events and Recognitions Committee, 2727 E. D St., Tacoma, WA 98421.
