Tacoma FIRST 311

Tacoma FIRST 311 is the City of Tacoma’s Customer Support Center, which provides a “one-stop shop” for City services, and offers a concierge feel in the way of reception, face-to-face interaction, 311 telephone support, online resources and mobile app connectivity, is located on the second floor of the Tacoma Municipal Building (747 Market Street, Room 220).

The Greater Tacoma Convention Center offers 119,000 square feet of modern space that can be customized for events from gala banquets to consumer shows. The facility is conveniently located near I-5 and is connected by a grand promenade to the four-star, 304 luxury Marriott Tacoma Downtown. It is also within walking distance of three premium hotels and is only 20 miles from Sea-Tac International Airport.

The Planning and Development Services Department has representatives located in the Permit Center. This collection of representatives includes experts for building code, land use and zoning, traffic, environmental services, private development, and right-of-way.

Formed in 1880, the Tacoma Fire Department (TFD) has a long history and proud tradition of service to the greater Tacoma community. Tacoma Public Utilities is the largest department in the Tacoma City Government. It has been publicly owned since 1893 and operates entirely on revenue from service sales, not taxes. TPU is governed by the Public Utility Board, the members of which appoint the Director of Utilities.
