Port of Tacoma Road Update - Nov. 4

Port of Tacoma Road Update - November 4

Paving North of WUT, Maxwell Intersection Remains Closed

The contractor expects to complete paving the west side of Port of Tacoma Road between Washington United Terminals and Ross Way this week.

Traffic is expected to move to the two outside lanes early next week to allow the contractor to grind and pave the center lane of this section. Watch for traffic revisions.

The intersection of Maxwell Way and Port of Tacoma Road remains closed to accommodate paving the west and center lanes. While the intersection is expected to partially open next week, left turns from northbound Port of Tacoma Road and eastbound Maxwell Way will be prohibited until center lane paving is complete. A detour route is marked around the construction.

Weekend work on this section of Port of Tacoma Road is planned for November 7 and 8.

All work is weather dependent.

Stay safe through construction zone

Safety is our top priority. The contractor, City, Tacoma Rail and Port continue to work with emergency responders to make sure they have access through the construction zone.

Remember, the speed limit through the construction zone is 30 mph. Obey all traffic laws, watch for traffic revisions and use extra caution when driving through the port industrial area.
