Senior Centers

Korean Women’s Association (KWA), in Partnership with Greater Destiny Church (GDC) is funded by the City of Tacoma to manage operations at two senior activity centers owned by the City (Beacon Activity Center and Lighthouse Activity Center).

Operating Hours are 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a daily lunch available, provided by Catholic Community Services ($3 donation requested). 

 

Recreational programs include karaoke, bingo, nail care, quilting and wood carving. A variety of health, fitness, and personal enrichment activities are offered, to encourage an active lifestyle, independence, healthy nutrition, and financial planning.

 

Other services provided include benefits enrollment assistance, and health screenings for breast, cervical and colorectal cancers.  

 

Services are available for City of Tacoma residents, age 60 and older.

Free van transportation to both activity centers is available to seniors living within Tacoma. Contact C. Ivan Johnson, Executive Project Director at (253) 591-5272 or civanjohnson30@gmail.com to arrange transportation to and from Beacon or Lighthouse Activity Center.
