Mayor Marilyn Strickland to Host EPA Meeting
Clarifying Definition for Streams and Wetlands Under Clean Water Act

Tacoma, Wash. -- Mayor Marilyn Strickland will host a meeting of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Local Government Advisory Committee at the Tacoma Municipal Building Council Chambers (747 Market St.) from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014.  They will discuss a proposed rule that seeks to clarify how streams and wetlands in the United States would be defined under the Clean Water Act. Public comment is encouraged.

“I’m excited to host Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy and the Local Government Advisory Committee meeting here in Tacoma,” said Strickland. “We’re very proud of the work we’ve done in partnership with the EPA on cleaning up the Foss Waterway and Point Ruston, as well as our ongoing efforts to reduce stormwater pollution. I look forward to this discussion.”
