Port of Tacoma Road Update - October 28

Port of Tacoma Road Update - October 28

This week's construction update for the Port of Tacoma Road reconstruction project:

Road Construction Continues North of WUT - Maxwell Way Closure Planned

The contractor expects to begin this week removing the existing pavement on the west side of Port of Tacoma Road between Washington United Terminals and Ross Way. The grinding and paving work on this section of road is expected to last several weeks.

The intersection of Maxwell Way and Port of Tacoma Road closed today. The closure is expected to last up to two weeks to accommodate paving the west and center lanes. A detour route will be marked around the construction.

Weekend work on this section of Port of Tacoma Road is planned for October 31 and November 7 and 8.

Weather Expected to Impact Work Schedule

The increased rainfall expected this fall and winter may impact the project’s construction schedule. All expected completion dates noted above are weather dependent.

Stay Safe Through Construction Zone

Safety is our top priority. The contractor, City of Tacoma, Tacoma Rail and Port continue to work with emergency responders to make sure they have access through the construction zone.

Remember, the speed limit through the construction zone is 30 mph. Obey all traffic laws, watch for traffic revisions and use extra caution when driving through the port industrial area.
