Port of Tacoma Road Update - August 19 - August 28

Port of Tacoma Road Update - August 19 - August 28

Construction Schedule for August 19 to 28

This week's construction update for the Port of Tacoma Road reconstruction project:

Safety is our top priority. The contractor, City, Tacoma Rail and Port are working with emergency responders to make sure they have access through the construction zone.

Remember, the speed limit through the construction zone is 30 mph to protect workers and the public.

What to Expect this Week and weekend

Expect congestion at the intersection of East 11th Street and Port of Tacoma Road Thursday and Friday as the contractor completes work on the water main.

No road closures are expected on Port of Tacoma Road this weekend.

Lane Closures, Water Main Work Continues

The road continues to be reduced to one lane of traffic each direction between Marshall and Lincoln avenues as crews complete center lane paving. The two remaining rail crossings are expected to be replaced in September.

The full-road closure between Lincoln Avenue and the Washington United Terminals gate will last through August to complete waterline installation, sidewalk construction and some paving. Traffic is detoured on Lincoln Avenue to Thorne Road and Maxwell Way. Local access is provided between Maxwell Way and the WUT gate, and access to WUT is not impacted.

Next week Tacoma Water is expected to complete their work connecting the existing service lines to the new 12-inch water line constructed between Lincoln Avenue and East 11th Street.
