Personal Fireworks Use Prohibited in City of Tacoma

The City of Tacoma is reminding community members that the personal use of fireworks is prohibited in Tacoma. Violators can receive a $257 fine and the confiscation of fireworks.

This year, due to COVID-19, the City is urging residents to start a new Fourth of July tradition that is safe, healthy and legal. It is important to remember to follow 6-foot physical distancing and mask wearing guidelines while celebrating Independence Day to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Personal fireworks use has been prohibited in Tacoma since 1992 to help prevent fire and injury.
Please call (253) 287-4455 to report violations. Only use 9-1-1 to report emergencies. Tacoma Police will respond to fireworks-related calls as units become available.

More information about the City’s fireworks ban is available at cityoftacoma.org/fireworks.
