A Statement From Mayor Victoria Woodards
on Governor Jay Inslee’s Extension of ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy’ Order

TACOMA, Wash. – “Today’s extension of the ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy’ order is heavy news for many in our community. These have been difficult times, and it can be hard to hold on to hope in a situation which also calls on us to practice enduring resilience. If we are to further open up our economy and return to more of those things in life that sustain us and bring us joy, we must stay the course.

I want to thank Governor Jay Inslee for his steady, bipartisan leadership and credible, data-informed decision making as he charts Washington’s path forward.

I want to express my appreciation for all the community members who are diligently complying with the ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy’ order. Our first responders, grandparents, expectant mothers, loved ones with diabetes and, truly, everyone is a bit safer thanks to your conscientious actions. As we enter a new month of staying home and staying healthy, I urge everyone to take this virus and the Governor’s order seriously. The best thing we can do for public health and our quality of life is to stop the spread of COVID-19, and that requires all of us.

Together, we can flatten the curve of this global pandemic in our local community. Together, we are stronger. Together, we will get through this because we are Compassionate Tacoma.”
