Port of Tacoma Road Update - June 23, 2016

Port of Tacoma Road Update - June 23, 2016

This week's construction update for the Port of Tacoma Road reconstruction project:

Traffic continues to be reduced to one lane in each direction between Marshall Avenue and the State Route 509 Bridge.

The contractor is preparing the center lane for paving. Paving is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 25, weather permitting.

During paving, the two lanes of through traffic will remain open but expect congestion. The left turn pocket at the Marshall Avenue intersection will be closed, and Tacoma Police will be directing traffic through the intersection.

The contractor will install traffic markings and return traffic to normal operations by July 1. No work is planned over the holiday weekend, July 2 through 4. Miscellaneous remaining work will be completed by July 15.

This is our last project update. Thank you for your patience during the improvements to Port of Tacoma Road.

Slow down through construction zone

Safety is our top priority. The contractor, City, Tacoma Rail and Port are working with emergency responders to make sure they have access through the construction zone.

The speed limit through the construction zone is 30 mph. Obey all traffic laws, watch for traffic revisions and use extra caution when driving through the port industrial area.
