The @tacomapd Explorers Program allows young people in our community to gain experience in law enforcement, give back to their community, and build leadership skills. Sergeant Kelly Custis, who leads the program, was joined by participants Shanaz Omar and Erin Cash at the July 29, 2025, #TacCouncil... Meeting to accept a recognition for their involvement in this community-building program. Join us in celebrating their inspiring leadership, commitment to upholding the highest standards of law enforcement, and selfless service to our community.
🏆Shanaz Omar received the prestigious Washington Law Enforcement 2024 Explorer of the Year award and is a current Washington State Patrol Trooper Cadet
🏆Erin Cash was awarded a significant Washington Law Enforcement Scholarship for demonstrating superior potential as a career law enforcement executive!
💙 Sergeant Kelly Custis has led this program for the past ten years and received statewide recognition as the 2023 Explorer Advisor of the Year!
