Interim Director
Kari Louie
Ms. Louie joined the City of Tacoma in 2014 as the Benefits Manager and, as her responsibilities expanded, was promoted to Senior Compensation and Benefits Manager in 2018. She served as the interim Human Resources Director until a permanent director was placed in 2021 and was subsequently promoted to Assistant Human Resources Director that same year.
Prior to joining the City, she served as the Corporate Director of Total Rewards and the Corporate Director of Human Resources for Sundt Construction in Tucson, Arizona, where she worked for 25 years.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Arizona and several human resources-related certifications, including Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Human Capital Strategist (HCS), Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), and Certified Benefits Professional (CBP).
