A motion was made by Commissioner Williams and seconded by Commissioner Sidhu and carried to accept this meeting’s COD agenda. Acceptance of Minutes A motion was made by Commissioner Caldwell and seconded by Commissioner Hester and carried to accept the August 2021 minutes. A motion was made by Commissioner Holloway and seconded by Commissioner Hester and carried to accept the September 2021 minutes. Commissioners Holloway, Hester, Willet, Byram, Sidhu, Monteros shared comments: rides to vaccination sites, accessibility of transit apps for example speaking the text for blind users), shuttle scheduling, coordinated route planning for different counties, after hour services, faster travel times, more populations aware of multiple transportation options, quicker arrival times, drop off/pick up locations closer to building entrances, full buses and no room for wheelchair passengers, lack of mobility training for drivers. Katie Drewel and Zac Eskenazi of Sound Transit South Tacoma Station Access Improvements PowerPoint presented. Follow up from presentation in March 2021. Project improvements/goals/financial plan, evaluation process and rankings, spring outreach responses, map graphic of improvements and alternates, future engagement sessions. Board Member make up and Tacoma Council Member Kristina Walker is representing Tacoma. Commissioner Hester, Barfield, Monteros shared comments: would like Board Members with lived experience in transportation access, speed/traffic control especially in two-lane areas, bike-lane directions. Chair Monteros: Possible interview with KOMO regarding the Disability Mobility Initiative. Miss Wheelchair Washington will be represented with its first woman of color this year. The week of October 23rd will be the Disabilities Rights of Washington “Week Without Driving” Challenge. Vice Chair Byram: No report at this time. Mr. Smiraldo: Accessible Taxi update coming in December. TACOD/TPD possible partnership with Project PEACE Executive Committee and Heal the Heart group. COT and TPS relationship will be on pause until a replacement for Former Commissioner O’Catherine can be appointed. A pilot training for a select few Commissions, Boards and Committees will be held Monday and will center on Equity. Guest Wheeler: Upcoming virtual meeting on November 9th, via Zoom at 9am. Pierce County presenting a proclamation for October Disabilities Awareness Month. Upcoming House Bill to watch out for. Guest Tudela for Access and Functional Needs Pierce County. Commissioner Hester inviting group to a Tacoma Community College Virtual Public Forum on October 13th regarding Elected Officials Candidates. Eastside steps improvements discussion with Gail Himes.
