Study session agenda to focus on other items of interest
Members of City Council are scheduled to discuss other items of interest at the March 20 study session. The Council will not take public comment during the noon study session in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16. Audio from the session will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and on www.tvtacoma.com. On-demand audio archives are available on the web within 24 hours of the meeting at www.tvtacoma.com.

Council to consider admission tax ordinance
City Council is scheduled to hear the final reading of an ordinance March 20 relating to an admission tax that would remove the exemption provided to nonprofit organizations and require nonprofit organizations with annual earnings of more than $300,000 or assets in excess of $50 million to collect a 5 percent tax on all admission charges effective July 1, 2012. The ordinance would also establish specific exemptions to the collection requirement for fundraising activities and school-related events.

Ordinance could impose sales tax for mental health services
The City Council is scheduled to hear the final reading of an ordinance March 20 related to local option taxes to impose an additional sales tax of one-tenth of one percent to fund the provision of mental health services effective July 1, 2012.
