After a nationwide recruitment process, City Manager Eric Anderson announced today that Richard McKinley, will be the new Public Works director effective Jan. 5, 2009.
McKinley, who has been a Public Works Director for the past 14 years, is currently the Public Works Director for the City of Bellingham. He has served as Public Works Director for Walla Walla and was an Assistant Public Works Director in Springfield, Ore.
McKinley, who has a wealth of experience in environmental services and engineering, was recognized as one of the National Top Ten Leaders in 2008 by the American Public Works Association (APWA) and received the 2007 APWA Roy Morse Award for the State of Washington.
“We had very qualified and capable candidates which made the selection process for this position difficult,” said City Manager Eric Anderson. “We believe Richard’s experience will make him a great asset to our City.”
As Public Works Director, McKinley’s salary will start at $142, 293.
