The Foss Waterway Development Authority provides an independent legal entity under RCW 35.21.730 - .755 and Tacoma Municipal Code Chapter 1.60.
The Foss Waterway Development Authority consists of seven members who are appointed by the Mayor and City Council. The membership term is three years. Members shall be civic or business leaders with experience in such fields as finance, real estate development, law or construction management and, to the extent possible, a majority of the membership shall be residents of Pierce County.
Citizens who have an ownership interest in real property located within or along the Foss Waterway, employees of the City of Tacoma or Metro Park District, and members of other City of Tacoma Boards and Commissions are not eligible to serve.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Foss Waterway Development Authority will undertake, assist with, and otherwise facilitate the redevelopment of property within and along the Thea Foss Waterway, currently an underutilized and blighted waterfront area in the heart of the City.
Staffing support to the Foss Waterway Development Authority is provided by the Community and Economic Development Department.
