Timothy Allen leads the planning and operations of the Tacoma Employees’ Retirement System (TERS) which serves more than 5,000 active and retired members. In addition, he directly oversees the $1.5 billion investment portfolio.
Working under the governance of the Retirement Board of Administration, Allen is responsible for TERS’ investment, actuarial and plan administration activities. He is also responsible for overseeing the staff administering the pension and health benefits for approximately 550 public safety retirees participating in the Washington State LEOFF 1 system.
Allen joined the City of Tacoma in 2010 as the assistant retirement director. His professional experience includes heading fixed income manager research for the U.S., Canada and Europe within the Investment Division of Russell Investments, as well as managing institutional fixed income portfolios as a senior vice president with Bank of America.
