Neighborhood and Community Services Executive Profile

Nadia Chandler-Hardy was appointed Assistant to the City Manager in May of 2012. As part of the Executive Leadership Team, she oversees the TacomaFIRST 311 Customer Support Center and serves as the organizational lead for interdepartmental and collaborative projects, civic engagement and innovation initiatives.  She serves as the Executive Liaison to the Public Safety, Human Services and Education Committee and the Infrastructure Planning and Sustainability Committee.  She formerly oversaw the Environmental Policy and Sustainability Office and Hearing Examiner’s Office.

In October 2014 she was appointed Director of Neighborhood and Community Services. As Director she provides management and oversight to the City’s Human Services Division which includes external contracting for human services and a number of direct services and Community Based Services Division which includes Code Compliance and the City’s Community Based Services program. 

Prior to her service in Tacoma, Washington, Nadia served as Management Assistant in the City Manager’s Office for the City of San Antonio, Texas. In this capacity, she was responsible for providing staff support to the City’s Executive Leadership Team and specific core operational departments to include Development Services, Planning & Community Development, San Antonio Public Library, Historic Preservation, Code Enforcement, Animal Care Services and Grants Monitoring Administration.

During her time as Management Assistant, she represented the City Manager’s Office as staff liaison to the San Antonio Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission. In this role, Nadia was responsible for event planning and fundraising efforts for one of the nation’s largest celebrations which attracts over 100,000 in attendance annually. 

Nadia has also served in various capacities for the City of Corpus Christi, Texas to include Customer Service (311), Economic Development and the City Attorney’s Office before joining the City of San Antonio. Nadia enjoys being a professional and personal development resource to young professionals.
