Municipal Alarm System

Tacoma Fire Department will discontinue its fire alarm monitoring service to businesses at midnight, Friday, July 31, 2015. Buildings that are currently monitored by the Tacoma Fire Department are required to establish a comparable monitoring service through a private vendor before June 30, 2015.

The service is being eliminated because maintenance of the antiquated system is not cost effective.

Is my building on the alarm system?

You may check the current TFD fire alarm service monitoring customers. This list was last updated on July 2014.

What do I need to do?

Contact a fire alarm monitoring company to establish a comparable monitoring service. 

A fire permit is required to modify your fire alarm monitoring system which includes digital/telephone dialers, radio panels, or any other approved monitoring technology. The permit application is to be submitted online and a typical fee is $218.20.

What should I do with the old equipment and City box?

Call (253) 591-5719 to have the alarm circuit deactivated and the City-owned equipment removed.

If you have a digitize box, call (253) 591-5719 to have the alarm circuit deactivated. The digitize box belongs to the property owner.
