Pipeline Trail - Phase 2

Project Description

Pipeline Trail-Phase II is a 2.4 mile contiguous facility starting at Pipeline Road at East 48th Street and ending at East 25th Street at East 'D' Street at the Tacoma Dome Station.

 

The project will construct a shared use path between East 48th and East 40th streets.  

 

The project will also construct non-motorized facilities along:

  • East 40th Street between Portland Avenue and McKinley Street
  • East I Street at East 40th Street
  • East McKinley to D Street
  • East 25th Street

Elements include:

  • A 12-foot asphalt surface
  • Gravel shoulders retaining walls
  • New access through existing gates
  • LED lights
  • Signage
  • User amenities
  • Trailhead/parking
  • User education for safety

The project will also add sidewalks and ADA compliant curb ramps as needed along the routes and upgrade or add pedestrian/bike safety crossings at East 40th and East 38th streets.
