Sign Erectors

Effective July 15, 2019, a regulatory license is no longer required for the business of installing or maintaining a sign in the City, however, any person installing or maintaining a sign in the City remains subject to a sign permit pursuant to Tacoma Municipal Code 2.05. 

 

Requirements to obtain a sign permit through the City’s Planning & Development Services include: 

  • A copy of a Certificate of Insurance, naming the City as the Certificate holder, issued by a company authorized to do business in the state of Washington insuring the applicant and the City and guaranteeing the payment of any final judgment up to the amount of $100,000 for injury to or death of any one person, and up to the amount of $300,000 for injury to or death of more than one person in any one accident, and up to the amount of $50,000 for property damage.
  • A Right of Way (RoW) Bond when working in/on/over or from the City RoW.
