Pacific Avenue Improvement Project Update
Good news! The Pacific Avenue repaving project is ahead of schedule and should be complete before Thanksgiving (mid-Nov.).
Phase III: 21st to 25th including 25th from Pacific to C Street (west side), is nearly complete.
Phase IV: 21st to 25th (east side), northbound demolition is in progress and is expected to be paved sometime next week.

The Pacific Avenue improvement project, which spans from South 17th Street to South 25th and South 25th Street from Pacific Avenue to C Street, is scheduled to start construction at 9 p.m. on Sept. 2. The work will be done at night between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. and will be accomplished in four phases; the first phase is from 17th to 21st Street on the west side of Pacific Avenue. The improvement project involves removing the existing asphalt surface and base section of the street and replacing it with a new base section and asphalt. Sidewalks and curb and gutter will also be repaired, where needed.
Pierce Transit plans to keep the busses on their regular schedule for the duration of the project. They are preparing to drive very slow and cautiously through the area.

- Simply put, this project involves removing and replacing the asphalt.
- The road desperately needs repair; it is failing rapidly.
- No utility work will be done at this time since it was done when the Light Rail was constructed.
- No construction work will be done at the concrete intersections.
- The road will be restricted to local and emergency vehicles only.
- The work is scheduled to take place at night between the hours of 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Angle parking will be maintained within the area during the day and will be unavailable at night while construction is taking place.
- Sidewalks will remain open.
