On July 27, the City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing to consider amendments to the Land Use Regulatory Code related to modifying enforcement, penalty provisions and processes. The proposed code amendments will help the City more effectively enforce land use regulations, which include regulations on zoning, subdivisions, historic preservation and environmentally sensitive areas. On Thursday, July 15, South Tyler Street will be closed to through traffic from the Tacoma Firs Golf Center driveway to South 38th Street for work related to the arterial reconstruction project. Artists and arts organizations have started to inhabit formerly vacant spaces in downtown Tacoma as the Artscapes component of Spaceworks Tacoma. The City of Tacoma’s new side sewer inspection requirement goes into effect Oct. 1, 2010.
