The Franchise Services promotes competition in telecommunications and cable services by ensuring a level playin field, managing the public rights of way, protecting consumers and supporting access for every resident within the Cify of Tacoma. 
 
We do this by:
  • Negotiating and administering cable and telecommunications franchises

  • Developing telecommunications policies and regulations

  • Managing rights-of-way issues

  • Advising policy makers on regulatory policy

  • Monitoring industry and government issues on a national level

  • Leveraging our Institutional Network (CityNet) resources; a negotiated benefit of our cable television and franchise agreements
