Update: The task force's signed letter of recommendation on how to improve Tacoma’s streets, sidewalks, trails, light rail and bikeways.
The Mobility Stakeholder Funding Task Force was established by Resolution 38302 for residents to study and recommend how to improve Tacoma’s streets, sidewalks, trails, light rail and bikeways. Resolution 30382 was sponsored by Council Members Mello, Boe, Fey and Woodards. The Task Force held its first meeting on September 22 and will continue to meet on Mondays from 6 -8 p.m. through January 2012 and will present its findings and recommendations to the City Council.
The Mobility Stakeholder Funding Task Force was established to study and recommend how to improve Tacoma’s streets, sidewalks, trails, light rail and bikeways. The Task Force is charged with making recommendations and suggestions to the City Council by January 31, 2012 the following:
a. Which forms of revenue should be raised to enhance the City's transportation system;
b. How much revenue should be raised to enhance the City's transportation system
c. If a ballot measure is to be proposed to the voters, when it should be put before voters; and
d. What parts of the City's transportation system should be addressed, with approximate funding amounts.
