City offices closed Nov. 11; garbage, recycling and yard waste collection on regular schedule
City of Tacoma administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11, in recognition of Veterans Day. Garbage, recycling and yard waste collection are not affected by the holiday, so collection will be on the normal schedule. The City of Tacoma landfill, recycling center and household hazardous waste facility will be open regular hours, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Recycling and yard waste collection schedule
Solid Waste Management collects recycling and yard waste on alternating weeks. Here's how to find out which weeks Solid Waste Management collects recycling and yard waste in your neighborhood:
1. Click on your garbage day: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
2. Determine whether you live in a shaded or unshaded area
3. • If you live in a shaded area:
Follow the schedule shown on the shaded calendar (PDF)

Follow the schedule shown on the unshaded calendar (PDF)
Refer to the holiday schedule for collection days that fall on or after New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Holiday collection
Garbage, recycling and yard waste is not picked up on the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Fourth of July
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
If your garbage, recycling or yard waste collection falls on these holidays or any day after the holiday during that week, collection will be one day late. Solid Waste Management does work Saturday on those weeks. All other holidays are on regular schedule. For example, Thanksgiving is on Thursday, so Thursday customers will have garbage collected on Friday. Friday customers will have garbage collected on Saturday. All other collection days are on their regular schedule.

If your regular garbage, recycling or yard waste collection day falls on these holidays or the days following the holiday, your collection will be one day late during that week only.
