Every other week garbage collection discussion at study session
Members of the City Council are scheduled May 8 to hear a presentation on the proposal for every other week garbage collection from Public Works staff. The presentation will include a review of information from a pilot program, which was previously shared with the Environment and Public Works Committee. Also on the agenda, City Council will have an opportunity to discuss any other items of interest.

The Council will not take public comment during the noon study session in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16. Audio from the session will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and on www.tvtacoma.com. On-demand audio archives are available on the web within 24 hours of the meeting at www.tvtacoma.com.

Resolution would adopt Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Program Implementation Plan
City Council members are scheduled to consider a resolution May 8 that would adopt the Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Program Implementation Plan directing the use of tax revenues collected from the sales tax increase of one-tenth of one percent for mental health services.

Public is invited to 26th annual City of Destiny Awards on May 8
The City of Tacoma will recognize Tacoma’s outstanding volunteers at the 26th annual City of Destiny Awards at 7 p.m. on May 8. Mayor Strickland and the City Council will honor local volunteers for their exemplary service during a ceremony held at Stadium High School in the Auditorium (111 N. E St.).
