Three neighborhood cleanups scheduled for May
The City of Tacoma and various neighborhoods have partnered to schedule three spring cleanups for the month of May. Homeowners and renters in single-family and duplex residences in these areas are encouraged to unload unwanted items for free.

• May 5: Giaudrone, HAWCS, Whitman (Giaudrone Middle School, 4902 S. Alaska St.)
• May 12: Pac-Yak, Park Avenue, Alling Park, Hillsdale, East and North Wapato (St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 7001 S. Park Ave.)
• May 19: Larchmont, Fern Hill, PacWest, Alling Park, Hillsdale, East Wapato (Church of God in Christ, 9202 Pacific Ave.)

During these cleanups, volunteers and staff from the City will accept items for disposal. All that is required to dump in eligible neighborhoods is a proof of residence such as a driver’s license or current utility bill.

Items that can’t be dumped include: material from a business; cars, motorcycles, campers or boat parts; truck canopies, trailers, boats or recreational vehicles; daily household garbage; hazardous waste; riding mowers; and animal carcasses.

The City will host 18 community cleanups in 2012. For more information on scheduled cleanups and/or neighborhoods boundaries, contact Allyson Griffith with Community Based Services at (253) 591-5119.
