Large scale retail use recommendations focus of study session
At noon on Jan. 31, during study session, City Council is scheduled to receive recommendations from the Planning Commission regarding large scale retail uses. As a second item on the agenda, staff will provide Council a timeline for funding to external organizations. Lastly, as a third item on the agenda, City staff will provide a draft ordinance related to the non-profit health care exemption. The Council will not take public comment during the noon study session in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16. Audio from the session will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and on www.tvtacoma.com. On-demand audio archives are available on the Web within 24 hours of the meeting at www.tvtacoma.com.

Admissions taxes could change
City Council is scheduled Jan. 31 to hear the final reading of an ordinance that would amend the municipal code related to admission tax. If approved, the ordinance would remove the exemption provided to those attending events sponsored by non-profit organizations with annual admission revenues over $250,000 to collect a 5 percent tax on all admission charges exceeding $250,000, effective July 1, 2012.

Land Use Regulatory Code public hearing scheduled Jan. 31
On Jan. 31, the City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the Land Use Regulatory Code recommended by the Planning Commission regarding large retail uses. The hearing will start at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, first floor, Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St.
