City offices closed Nov. 25- 26 for Thanksgiving holiday
City of Tacoma administrative offices will close Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25 and 26, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

No garbage, recycling or yard waste service on Thanksgiving Day
Tacoma Solid Waste Management will not pick up garbage, recycling or yard waste on Thanksgiving, Nov. 25. Customers whose garbage, recycling and yard waste is normally picked up on Thursday will have a Friday pickup.  Friday customers will have collection on Saturday. All other collection days are on their regular schedule. The City of Tacoma’s landfill, recycling center and household hazardous waste facility will close on Thanksgiving Day only.

Brighten your Saturday with the 65th annual holiday tree lighting
Start your holidays with a tree lighting on Saturday, Nov. 27. The 65th annual tree lighting is a free community event that will take place at the corner of 9th Street and Broadway in Downtown Tacoma. Festivities will get underway at 5 p.m. in the Pantages Theater Lobby.

2011-2012 Biennial Budget workshop scheduled for Nov. 30
At the 2011-2012 budget workshop scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, requests and inquiries from previous budget workshops will be discussed. The workshop will be held in the Council Chambers on the first floor of the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St.  The workshop will be streamed live on the web at www.tvtacoma.com and broadcast live on TV Tacoma.

Mixed-Use Center Master Plan and Martin Luther King Planning focus of study session
Members of City Council are scheduled Nov. 30 to receive updates on the Mixed-Use Center Master Plan and planning for the Martin Luther King Area. The Council will not take public comment during the noon study session held in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16. The session will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and on www.tvtacoma.com. On-demand audio archives are available on the web within 24 hours of the meeting at www.tvtacoma.com.

Hearing to be held on funding for human services programs
On Nov. 30, the City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing to consider the recommendations of the Human Services Commission for community services funding for local human services programs. The hearing will start at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, first floor, Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St.
