A Quest for Less of a Mess: Can you reduce your garbage?

What is your environmental footprint?
Grades 6-8

If everyone on Earth lived like you do, how many planet earths would we need? What if we changed our habits and started reusing, recycling and reducing what we consume? You can shrink your environmental footprint by practicing the 5 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Respect and Responsible.





PROGRAM SUMMARY
Time: 50 minutes

In this lesson, students will learn what it means to have an environmental footprint and how to calculate their own. The EnviroChallenger educator will also help students brainstorm ways to reduce their environmental impact by generating less garbage, and at the same time reducing their environmental footprint.

Pre- and Post-Visit Activities

  • Before the EnviroChallenger visits your classroom, please use the Pre-Visit Activity  to better prepare your students. 
  • After the EnviroChallenger visits your classroom, use the Post-Visit Activity  as a lesson follow-up and test the students new knowledge!
