Learn how pollution affects the water cycle
Grades 2-5
What would we do without water?
What if our water was no longer clean enough to drink?
Any time pollution enters water, whether it's a lake, stream or runoff from the street, that pollution becomes part of the water cycle and will eventually end up as our drinking water. Yuck!
But there is good news! If we change our habits, we can minimize pollution in the water cycle and our water will remain safe for us and the many living things that depend on it.
PROGRAM SUMMARY
Time: 50 minutes
Students will unearth the importance of protecting and preserving this natural resource by learning about the water cycle and how pollution affects it. In this activity each student becomes a drop of water and collects different colored stamps as they flow through the water cycle. Putting their new aqua-information to work, the class discusses how to keep water clean and the environment healthy.
