The City of Tacoma is now accepting applications for Arts Projects Funding, and this year, you no longer have to be a Federally designated 501 (c) 3.
Applications are available for eligible organizations producing arts programming for 2007, and a free workshop to explain the process will take place on Oct. 20 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at 747 Market St., Room 708.
Eligibility extends to non-profit agencies, organized groups of community volunteers (such as a business district or neighborhood council with an advisory body); those with a business license and an organizational bank account; or for-profit businesses with an arts mission or a for-profit business proposing a unique project designed specifically for public benefit that is not for profit.
Arts Projects funding ranges from $1,000 to $5,000 and is used to support community projects that focus on the arts. The application deadline is Nov. 17, 2006. Organizations that apply must be located within the City of Tacoma limits. Past funding has supported arts components of festivals, public art projects, exhibit programs, performing arts series and literary events.
Organizations interested in applying for the projects may download the guidelines and application form on the City of Tacoma Web site at www.tacomaculture.org. Application forms are also available by calling (253) 591-5192, or e-mailing amcbride@cityoftacoma.org.
